Announcements for Human Genetics II: Introductory Statistical Genetics

01.08.03: An optional review section on biology will be offered in CLSC 525 (5th Floor Cummings) at 10:00 am.

01.10.03: An optional review section on UNIX will be offered in BLSC 18 (same room as class) at 10:00 am.

01.14.03: The web site was updated today. Current course syllabus,  papers, and announcements are now available!

01.15.03: 1. Anna Pluzhnikov will offer an optional section in introductory statistics/probability theory in CLSC 525 at 10:00 am
2. A student had concerns regarding an error message when logging into Nancy's computer with the accounts distributed in class on Tuesday. The error message (concerning mailing privileges) is irrelevant to your ability to actually do functional work on her computer, so disregard this message if you receive it when you login to her computer.
3. I updated the Related Links section and have included additional files regarding UNIX commands, and help sheets regarding text editors in UNIX. Also are some additional links to programs which enable you to login and transfer files to and from your accounts on Nancy's computer. In addition, I updated the Course Materials section to include lecture notes from the first two lectures.

01.17.03: Problem Set One has now been posted.

01.23.03: Week four readings are now available from the course materials link!

01.24.03: 1.  Problem Set Two has now been posted. 2. A slight errata pointed out in section today concerning the homework assignment, which is now corrected. The penetrance should read: f(22) = .0001, f(12) = .0001, f(11) = .9 . 3. Some students asked for the Excel file that I used to do analysis for Problem Set One. It includes some information to back-calculate l values given your model for penetrance and allele frequencies. I've made this file available in course materials.

01.28.03: Section this week (for 01.31.03) will be held as usual in BSLC 018. There, Anna Pluzhnikov will be leading a section regarding haplotype frequency estimation. A paper reference has been posted for this week for reading in preparation for this section (and for class next week).

02.04.03: 1. Additional papers for reading have been posted on course materials for week five. 2. I've graded your homework, and I have posted an answer key for problem set two. 3. We will have a review session for the midterm this Friday in section, so bring all your questions!

02.06.03: Section for 02.14.03 has been canceled so that you can work on your midterms. I (Ben) will be available during that normal section time instead (10:00 - 11:20 AM) in the Dry Lab (CLSC 505) to answer any questions you may have while completing your midterm. Additionally, you can always email me any questions you have over the weekend.

02.07.03: Check out the course materials page for a midterm review sheet. That, and on 02.14.03 instead of being in my office (like stated above), it was decided that it would be better for me to be available in BSLC 018 instead, so that's just where I will be from 10:00 - 11:20 AM.

02.10.03: Midterm will be posted in course assignments at 9:00AM, 02.11.03.

02.21.03: 1. Problem set three has now been posted in course assignments. Please note the non usual time it is due on Friday (hard copies by noon, or by email at 5:00 pm) 2. 02.28.03: Papers for next week have been posted in course materials. There will be one more paper to read, will post sometime this weekend, so stay sharp.

03.03.03: Third paper for this week has been posted.

03.06.03: 1. Final set of paper for next week have been posted. 2. Course Evaluation will happen on Tuesday next week (03.11). 3. The problem is fixed now, see the assignment for more details.
